GUNUNG WUKIR TEMPLE





This temple is the oldest temple to be linked with a number of years. According to  the inscription Canggal  found in 1879 in the ruins, the temple was erected during the reign of King  Sanjaya  from the time  the Ancient Mataram Kingdom , in  732  AD (654  years Saka ). This inscription has a lot of information related to the  kingdoms  or Hindu Mataram. According to this inscription, Temple Mount Wukir may have real names  Shiwalingga  or  Kunjarakunja .

The temple is located on the Mount Wukir, which by the surrounding community called  Mount Wukir , on the western slopes  of Mount Merapi . This location is in the northeast district  Mildura  Magelang regency. Temple Mount Wukir can be achieved by public transport to the district  Ngluwar  village to village Kadiluwih Canggal, connected by walking up the hill about 300 meters above sea level.
