    Palangkaraya city  or Palangkaraya is a town at once a capital of the province of Central Kalimantan. Formerly known as Palangkaraja (1957-1972). This city has an area of 2,400 km² and a population of as many as 220 962 inhabitants with an average population density of 92 067 inhabitants per km² (results Indonesia 2010 census). Before the decentralization in 2001, the city of Palangkaraya only has two districts, namely: Pahandut and Bukit Batu. Now administratively, the city of Palangkaraya consists of 5 districts, namely: Pahandut, Jekan Kingdom, Bukit Batu, Sebangau, and Rakumpit.                   
    The town was built in 1957 (the Emergency Law No. 10/1957 concerning the Establishment of the Regional Autonomous Level I Central Kalimantan) of wilderness that is opened through the village on the edge Pahandut Kahajan. Palangkaraya is a city with the largest area in Indonesia. [2] Most of the area is still in the form of forests, including protected forests, nature conservation and Protected Forest Tangkiling.
